Artist Information Kumbakonam Ganesh learnt Mridhangam from his father, the renowned mridhangam vidhwan and teacher, Kumbakonam Rajappa Iyer. Ganesh is not only proficient in playing the mridhangam but also other South Indian percussion instruments such as ghatam and kanjira. He is equally adept in the theory of the percussion instruments and his lecture demonstrations give a unique opportunity to appreciate the nuances of rhythm in Indian Classical Music.
