Artist Information Srimushnam Raja Rao has been performing as a mridangam artist accompanying practically all musicians for over 4 decades. He has earned the respect and admiration of not only the rasikas, but also fellow artists and is one of the senior mridangists in the Carnatic music scene today. He received his training from Kumbhakonam Rajappa Iyer and is keeping up the tradition in concerts all over the world. He has toured USA more than 12 times and most places where people enjoy Carnatic music. He is a fine vocal artist himself and provides excellent accompaniment. He has been awarded many titles and awards including the Asthana Vidwan by both "Sringeri Sarada Peetam" and "Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam". He has also been awarded the "Sangeetha Ratnakara" by Cleveland festival.
