Artist Information Born in a family where music runs in the blood, R Jayanthi, niece of the violin legend Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, is the disciple of her aunt, Smt. Padmavathy Ananthagopalan. Sruthi magazine called her "an artist mature beyond her years." Jayanthi had the rare privilege of being one of the select few disciples of veena virtuoso Dr. S. Balachander. Jayanthi has also performed a great number of concerts in the famous 'Violin-Veena-Venu' trio along with Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi and Sikkil Mala. Jayanthi has many cassettes and CD recordings to her credit.
