Pingali Surya Prabhakararao is a disciple of Late Sri
M.S.Balasubrahmanya Sarma and Late Sri T.S.Raghavan. He has enjoyed very close associations with Late Sri Emani Sankara Sastry (whose father Sri Achutarama Sastry was his
mother,
Pingali Subbalaksmhi's Guru) and Sri T.K.Govindarao. He seeks musical
inspiration from Padmabhushan Dr. Balamuralikrishna.
Sri Prabhakararao is an approved Artist at All India Radio, New Delhi
in
categories such as Carnatic vocal, Lalita Sangeetam and Music
Composition. He
has enjoyed tremendous success as a music composer at several All
India Radio
stations for the last 30 years. In addition, he has been involved
with
various
TV and Radio productions and has conducted numerous musical ensembles
and
musical lecture demonstrations on the Radio.
Endowed with a rich, melodious and soulful voice, Sri Prabhakararao
brings a
unique meditative temperament into his singing. His stress on Bhava
and clear
evocation of mood has a profound impact on the listener, carrying him
through
a
meandering journey of contemplation, devotion and rapture. He
attributes this
style to his 94 year-old mother, who still finds time to sing
Tyagaraja
Kirtanas/Kritis at 4 am every day, despite his busy schedule.
In addition to his Post-Graduate degrees in Social Work and Library
Science,
Sri Prabhakararao also holds the degree of Sangeetha Siromani from
the
University of Delhi. He has authored articles in noted magazines.
Sirisha Pingali, daughter of Sri Prabhakararao is an approved Artist in All India Radio, New Delhi and received early musical training from her father. She is currently learning Hindustani Music from Smt. Jayanti Sahasrabuddhe,
daughter-in-law of Smt. Veena Sahasrabuddhe
