Sangeetha Swaminathan, a recent arrival to the USA, has been learning music since the age of six, first from her father Sri Karur Krishnamurthy and later from the illustrious Smt. Sudha Raghunathan. An 'A' grade artiste of the All-India Radio Madras, Sangeetha has won several awards, including the MLV award from CMANA in 2001 (through the Narada Gana Sabha) and the best upcoming vocalist award from the Music Academy in 1999. She has won many other honors, including the central govt. scholarship for advanced training in carnatic music and peforming in the "Spirit of unity concerts for universal integration". Sangeetha has also performed in London and Italy and in countries such a Romania, Syria and Cyprus under the sponsorship of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. She has been awarded the titles "Nadha Shri" and "Arul Isai Vani". Sangeetha presently lives in the San Francisco Bay area, California.
