Sri Trichur V.
Ramachandran had his early training in Carnatic Music at a very tender age
under the late Varkala Subramania Bhagavathar and Thripunithura R. Krishna
Iyer. He gave his first public concert at the age of 14 and regular radio
concerts from the age of 19.
He soon came under
the tutelage of the great Maestro of Carnatic Music, Late Sri.
G.N.Balasubramaniam, fondly referred to as GNB, a path breaking, brilliant
musician. GNB has left an indelible mark in the Carnatic Music world with his
distinct and inimitable "GNB"style. Ramachandran was under Sri GNB
for about a5 years in the "Gurukula system ". He has accompanied Sri
GNB in many of his concerts all over India.
Sri Ramachandran
received the Government of India Cultural scholarship in 1965-67 for study
under the late Smt. M. L.Vasanthakumar, a great vocalist, who is another
disciple of Sri GNB.
Today Sri Trichur
V.Ramachandran is one of the most popular and leading Carnatic vocalists. He
has imbibed the great style of his guru Sri GNB and has added his own touches
of originality. His voice is rich, resonant and full of depth and sweetness. It
captivates and enthralls the audiences with its majesty and sweep. He has a
vast repertoire and great respect for the tradition laid down by the old
masters. His style is full of Madhyama Kala and has an unflagging tempo.
