Sri Trichur V. Ramachandran had his early training in Carnatic Music at a very tender age under the late Varkala Subramania Bhagavathar and Thripunithura R. Krishna Iyer. He gave his first public concert at the age of 14 and regular radio concerts from the age of 19.
 
He soon came under the tutelage of the great Maestro of Carnatic Music, Late Sri. G.N.Balasubramaniam, fondly referred to as GNB, a path breaking, brilliant musician. GNB has left an indelible mark in the Carnatic Music world with his distinct and inimitable "GNB"style. Ramachandran was under Sri GNB for about a5 years in the "Gurukula system ". He has accompanied Sri GNB in many of his concerts all over India.
 
Sri Ramachandran received the Government of India Cultural scholarship in 1965-67 for study under the late Smt. M. L.Vasanthakumar, a great vocalist, who is another disciple of Sri GNB.
 
Today Sri Trichur V.Ramachandran is one of the most popular and leading Carnatic vocalists. He has imbibed the great style of his guru Sri GNB and has added his own touches of originality. His voice is rich, resonant and full of depth and sweetness. It captivates and enthralls the audiences with its majesty and sweep. He has a vast repertoire and great respect for the tradition laid down by the old masters. His style is full of Madhyama Kala and has an unflagging tempo.
